Andre is the oldest son of Andre and Gerda who built the Beach House. He made history by becoming the youngest ever Bodyboarding World Champion at the age of 17 years and again at 18, wining both the World GOB Tour Series and the Pipeline World Championships. Andre was also the first South African to ever win the Morey Bonzai Pipe Championships and the last champion of this 17 year old event! He is the first South African bodyboarder to win the GOB (Global Organization of Bodyboarding) world title. The second person ever to win both the Pipe and GOB titles in one year. The following year he proved this was no fluke by winning the first ever Mike Steward Pipeline Pro (which replaced the Morey World Champs which was won by Mike something like 9 times!) and again wining the GOB World Championships.
Andre Botha left school at 15 to become a professional bodyboarder,
traveling to Hawaii on his own. He was the youngest person ever to compete
at Bonzai pipe in the World Championships and won the "Most
Inspirational Award" that year.
Andre
has also become a very successful bodyboarding photographer with
pictures in National and International magazines....soon
he
will
be
releasing
his
first
video. |
