The map below indicates the road to Olifantsbos in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and the hike. (Click on the map to see the entire map of Cape Point and an enlargement of this section). The white circle at the end of the road is the car park, the koppie left being situated just behind it. To the left of this picture is the flat piece of grass where the bontebok was feeding. The picture of Olifantsbos bay was taken from the Olifantsbos Point at the far end of the bay that can be seen on the map.
The Chacma baboon on the beach was photographed from the same location as they came strolling past.

The drive to Olifantsbos itself is a special experience. The fynbos changes from mountain fynbos to coastal fynbos as you drive. Allowing for stops along the way to view the flowers,  enjoy the scenery or say hallo to a tortoise typically  takes about 45 - 60 minutes. Driving at 10 km/hr is an appropriate speed and a makes the experience of a visit to Olifantsbos a journey through an almost fantasy land of biological awe.  Click to tour back to previous fynbos page. Don't go to Olifantsbos if you are in a rush. 
Go to Cape Point.
