"The
waves are epic. The coast is very exposed to large Atlantic
sea swell so the waves are very powerful, there
are many big wave spots that get enormous waves on a regular basis.
Windsurfers can walk from the front door with their
boards and take off in under 2 minutes! If you need more un-crowded space,
Noordhoek Beach
will oblige!
Muizenburg Beach is a popular venue for less experienced windsurfers and
more often than not a paradise for experienced riders.
The very gradual increase in
depth and enormous amount of space makes learning windsurfing fun and safe
at many of Cape Town's
beaches.
Pegrams Point in Cape Point
(top right)
teems with experienced riders on good days in summer when the South-West
is blowing. This is windsurfing and wave riding combined at its utmost. Windsurfers fly
over the sets when they sail in and then surf the waves all the way from
the onset of the swell, way past the "back-line" right to the beach. A
spectacular display of man's ability to master and harvest the raw powers
of nature. For his enjoyment.
Watch the
Dolphins play from your sea kayak! Whether an amateur or professional you can enjoy exploring the
rich Atlantic Ocean. Experienced guides provide all requirements for
1 to 4 hour sea kayaking trips on our doorstep, around Cape Point or
elsewhere in the Peninsula ...! No experience required. The Kayaks are all
"dry', so your toes don't even get wet.
A lonely
canoeist paddles across the bay in
front of the Beach House at Sunset (right) and drags a trail of silver
behind him. Cape Point is said to offer one of the
best sea-kayaking venues in Africa. The sand beach just to the right of the Cape Towns Guest House on the Beach offers a channel that runs in
between the kelp and is a popular launching spot from small un-motorized
sea craft like kayaks, canoes, rowing boats and small yachts.
In the
picture left a paddle-skier is taking a wave at Sunset
Break right in front of the Beach House. The kelp is visible in the face
of the wave. In the background, weekend fishermen pot for crayfish from a
rubber duck. (Click on images for enlargement more information and to tour.) The Beach in front
of the Beach House provides hours of relaxation for some and hours of
active fun for others.
White Shark Diving Amongst the many diving adventures that the Cape
offers and only for the more adventurous: one day diving trips to the
famous Gansbaai White Sharks is available.
These trips are even inclusive of transport from and
back to the Beach House! The High of the Shark Diving
Season is in the Cape winter when the Beach House offers a special
rate. During the high season the chances of seeing sharks are
95% and better, although stormy days can prevent us from going to
sea.

From
the Beach or the Deep Sea fishing from the boat, Kommetjie has
it all for the angler.
Off the
Cape Peninsula the warm Indian Ocean meets the cold Atlantic waters
creating the ideal environment for an abundance of marine life. For this
reason the Cape boasts some of the most productive fishing grounds in
Southern Africa.
Kommetjie
has its own slipway and is only about 30 nautical miles from the tuna
grounds, home of the albacore, yellowfin tuna. It offers excellent
game fishing.
A
variety of fishing charters operate from Kommetjie and the nearby Houtbay
and False bay fishing villages.
In the bay itself catch galjoen, white steenbras or
come for the exciting snoek run. Click on images above to find out
