The Hadede
Ibis is not uncommon in large parts of Africa but even so, its size and
peculiar attitude usually makes it look out of place.
The name Ibis refers to the bird associated with the Egyptian god
Thoth, who instructed mankind in the sacred arts of language and
hieroglyphics.
In Africa, Thoth certainly has a sense of humor and a lot to say!
These birds have a load call which has an unmistakable laugh to, often
shouting "Ha-Ha-Haa-ha" repeatedly, as they fly away when disturbed. |
