Fynbos - The Cape
Floral Kingdom.
Virtual Tour. |
|
| |
 |
Fynbos
(from Dutch 'fijn bosch' = fine bush) is the major vegetation type of the
small botanical region known as the Cape Floral Kingdom. Although the
smallest it is also the richest of the world's six floral kingdoms. It
comprises a treasure trove of 1300 species of plants per 10 000 km2
compared to its closest rival of only 400 (South American rain forest).
Visit the Beach House's fynbos pages to find out
more....click on image left or right. |

The plants in the Western Cape have diversified like nowhere
else in the world. For example, there are more species of plants
growing on Table Mountain than that what there are in the entire British
Kingdom! |
|
| |
 |
The beauty of fynbos extends far beyond the well
know and spectacular proteas. The original geranium and gazania for example comes from the Cape. The original
endemic plants are flowering in our fynbos garden. |

The restios and integral part of fynbos,
provides own display of brilliance and variation. Take the fynbos tour to
learn more and get the most out of your visit to the Fairest Cape of them
all. |
