In general, the Cape Town winters have a bad reputation. However, a German couple that spent a delightful week at Sunset Beach House last winter, in mid June, remarked that the climate during the week was better than Germany's summers!! Not everyone will be this lucky! Winter storm weather comes from the North-West which is "face on" for the Beach House. 

The house is well equipped for winter, it makes winter storms a pleasant experience. Sitting in front of a warm log fire, sipping a Cape Sherry listing to the waves bounding the beach brings calm to the soul and warmth to the heart. The Kom, Slangkop, Wildevoelvlei and Noordhoek Beach in the Winter Months with its North-Western storms brings some of the best land based viewing of seabirds in the world to within easy walking distance to the Beach House. A variety of terns, that fly thousands of kilometers can reliable be seen at the Kom. Albatrosses, petrels and Cape gannets can also be seen from the land.
