Birdwatcher's Tour

The Crowned Crane or Mayhem (referring to the birds call) at Imhoff's Farm, Kommetjie.

The Nature Park at Imhoff's Farm up the road from the Beach House is  a breeding center for the African Blue Crane. It also has a selection of the giant flightless birds of the world and is unlike your common zoo. The Nature Park uses a minimum of cages and fencing, so it is a walk-through haven of bird-life and friendly mammals.

It is home to a variety of African Cranes, mainly the regal Crowned Crane and the Blue Crane, flightless birds (Ostrich, Emu, Rhea and Cassowaries) Peacocks and Pelicans and many migratory birds.

Imhoff's Farm is the oldest farm in South Africa and has been in existence since 1743.

On the farm there is virtually something for everybody: exciting rides on
camels
in the bush or horse rides on the beach, viewing of wild and tame animals, relaxing in the tranquil teagarden or browsing in the various shops. The farm is very CHILD FRIENDLY and you will find a safe play area in addition to a charming pet and pony park where children can interact freely with tame animals.

Click to go to Bird Watching Main page.

The Farm also offers a variety of other shops and activities and can be visited at http://www.naturefarm.co.za .
